December 2012

Heath & Rachael | Married, Sunshine Coast Wedding Photography

The rain couldn’t dampen this cute couples special day.  Unfortunately the heavens opened up 20 minutes before the ceremony which was meant to take place outodoors and had to be moved at the very last minute. Despite the rain, it was a moving ceremony and a gorgeous reception location. We were lucky enough for the rain to finally ease up for a few outdoor shots.

A GREAT effort made by the bride, groom and their bridal party who didn’t let the rain get in the way of photos. Thank you all so much for making my job easy.

52 Week Photo Challenge {Week 49 Tradition}

Little Boy: 10, Christmas Tree: 0

Last year we didn’t put our tree up until a couple of days before Christmas in fear that our little crawling baby would try to eat our tree 🙂

What a difference a year makes…

This year I was quite excited of the idea of starting a tradition with my son by putting the Christmas tree up together….

Well, that hasn’t exactly gone to plan. Apparently Christmas balls are super fun to pull apart and bounce around the house.

Not exactly the image I had in mind for this week’s theme but I know in years to come it will bring a smile to my face.

52 Week Photo Challenge {Week 48 Thankful}

Every week I participate in a 52 week photo challenge. We are given the theme each week, this week’s theme is ‘Thankful’.

I’m so very thankful for my little family. Healthy and happy. We are so lucky. Also very grateful for our pool at the moment. It’s just turned summer here in Australia and we’ve been experiencing some very hot days. Pool means family time to us, I love watching the joy on my little boys face as he plays in the water.  It’s moments like these I wish he stayed the same young tender age.

What does a photo mean to me?

Welcome to my very first blog!

I’m so excited to launch my new website along with my first ever blog.

I will admit it, I am still quite new to photography and the camera wasn’t something I picked up a young age, not seriously anyway.

I have always loved composing photos and finding subjects to photograph since a young age but I was only ever ‘mucking around’, little did I know that one day photography would become my passion and that I would not to be able to go a day without thinking about it. I had no idea that from the day I invested in my first serious SLR that I would never look at the world through the same eyes again.

What does a photo mean to me?

First and foremost, it’s my art. Whether it be an object or an emotion – I love creating artwork with my images.

Secondly, it’s a memory. I think it’s absolutely incredible that we have the technology to be able to capture memories. We all know that time doesn’t stand still for anyone. Anyone except a camera that is.

I often hear the comment “anyone can push a button”; true indeed, but not everyone understands how to use their camera to the best of its ability and not everyone understands how light paints.  Not everyone can see that special moment that sometimes only lasts a split second between loved ones.

Not only does it take a good eye, but also knowledge and skill required to capture those special moments. And we {photographers} just don’t push buttons. Apart from the time we take to shoot a session there is so much more that happens behind the scenes. Planning, emails, schedules, travel, client meet and greets, sorting through numerous images even before we start to edit them. For every hour of session time, a photographer then spends at least 3 times that post processing a session.

Each and every session I spend hours making sure I get perfect for the families/couples about to receive my images. I treat them as if they were my own. I can honestly say I put my heart into every session I take.

So I hope I have given you a little insight into why I love photography and what it means to me. It’s never ‘just a photo’, it is art and someone’s memories.

And with that, I will leave you with my own personal favorites of some of my own memories. Most will be of my own little sunshine; my little boy, and others are just personal favourites that take me back to a time and a place that I enjoy remembering in my past.

Enjoy and thank you again for visiting.
